In the lab I was trying to test out some colors for my thermochromic prints. I am trying to layer colors and gradients underneath the thermo color inks, so they reveal when heated. It’s much harder than it seems.

Loom

I set-up my first loom last week and it took about two days. It was alot of tedious tasks to finally get it to work. Now i’m understanding the theory behind the warp and weft and can’t wait to get good enough to work outside the lines.

This is a small experiment using fabric with conductive fibers (steel/acrylic : 30/70), acts as a variable resistor, changing input data to a BX-Basic micro-controller based on how much or how little it is stretched.

I am happy with the results when I finally saw the samples made from the circular knit machine. The graphic image was composited in Maya 3D software to give the illusion of polar bear hair. To enhance the quality of the fur I used one color to portrude that gives it a more realistic look. [...]
